Clinical Services

Clinical services include:

  • Identifying clients who are likely to benefit from an assessment or from referral to another health care professional

  • Assessing clients and interpreting assessment results to: (a) determine whether the client has a speech, voice, language, and/or swallowing disorder; (b) determine the severity of the disorder(s) (as well as the client's areas of relative strength); (c) determine the need for therapy; and (d) develop a customized therapy or management plan

  • Informing clients and their significant other(s) of the assessment findings, the proposed plan of therapy or management (and other options), and about options available for dealing with the emotional impact of their speech, voice, language, and/or swallowing disorder

  • Educating clients and their significant other(s) about the nature of their speech, voice, language, and/or swallowing disorder, and about the nature of therapy or management

  • Treating/Managing clients by following and monitoring the therapy or management plan, and making changes to that plan, as needed

  • Reporting clients' assessment and/or therapy outcomes to their referral source(s) (e.g., physician)
